There remain more good

There remain more good people than bad in this old ..what world. thing it won’t and everyone get is all you. bad. about the fact that not every- 0,000 In I’ve said it many times. I have pointed out many good people who were in the midst of doing some really good things, all for others with no consideration for anything in return. As a Police Officer, sometimes we’re are called upon to do some mighty hard and difficult things. And sometimes we have the opportunity to simply say or do something nice. You know, like help a stranded motorist fix a flat tire. Give someone directions when they are lost. Maybe, put some gas in a motorist’s car allowing them to continue on their way. Or perhaps when an officer buys groceries for a family he or she doesn’t even know. The point being we hear and see a lot of negativity about law enforcement officers these days. And not just cops, but people in general. Hell, people are just negative about life in general. But what we don’t seem to hear a lot about is the good things people do in our daily lives. There are just as many good deeds done as there are bad. You just have to have a positive attitude. I’m not implying we need to be giddy or overly watchful of “good things’ in our life. However, I am saying maybe we need to pause a moment and think light of the previous year, it is easy to become a bit cynical and think of only the negative. Whatever affects us in a negative way we tend to focus on that aspect. I’m simply saying, we’ve become so engrossed with what’s wrong, we’ve forgotten about what’s right. COVID, politics, rising violence, lawmakers, racial matters, inequality, and education. The list goes on and on. So yes, one could clearly articulate that things have been rough and at times they’ve been awful. One can lose sight of such simple things as a sunrise, a sunset. A campfire on a cold night. Friends and family gathered for an outdoor BBQ. Seeing the “HOT NOW” sign glowing at the Krispy Kreme on your way home. (Ummm, Mike Barron added this) Summer is coming and the beaches REX EVANS are open! Children are still being born and we must do better for them. And that has to start with we must do better for ourselves with regards to how we look at our world, each other and of course, our selves. I’m going to close with this…. Stop focusing on the negative. Yes, there’s a lot of negative things going on. I get that. But pause a moment and reflect instead upon something good, at least a couple of times a day. Maybe someone was actually nice to you. The line at the grocery store wasn’t as long as usual today. Maybe your kids did the dishes or took out the trash. I don’t know, something, anything. It’s not like it has to be Earth shattering. Just look around…it’s not ALL bad. It’s just not…. full page ad 8 The BLUES POLICE MAGAZINE The BLUES POLICE MAGAZINE 9
