GUEST COMENTARYLaw

GUEST COMENTARYLaw Enforcement TodayMathew SilvermanFederal Law Enforcement Officers Association:Thank you President Trump for removing violent illegal alien gangmembers and making America Safe Again. The Federal Law EnforcementOfficers Association (FLEOA) is anonpartisan professional organizationrepresenting over 32,000federal law enforcement agentsand officers from more than 65law enforcement agencies. Ourmission is to advocate for common-senselaw enforcementpriorities in Congress and ensurepolicies that prioritize the safetyand security of the Americanpeople. As law enforcement professionals,we work tirelessly toprotect this country, but toooften, politics interfere withour ability to do what is bestfor public safety. Recently, theTrump Administration took decisiveaction to deport dozens ofviolent gang members believedto be affiliated with Tren de Aragua—oneof the most dangerouscriminal organizations operatingin the U.S. Last month, PresidentTrump invoked the Alien EnemiesAct to facilitate these removals.“I completely understand lawand order and the need for rulesand regulations,” said MathewSilverman, National President ofFLEOA. “The bottom line is, 261individuals were deported toEl Salvador on Saturday—137 ofwhom were removed under the18 The BLUES - APRIL ‘25Alien Enemies Act due to allegedgang ties. This country is saferbecause of these actions.”But a federal judge criticizedthe Justice Department fordisregarding his order to turnaround two flights en route to ElSalvador carrying suspected Trende Aragua gang members. The judge also demandedexplanations regarding additionalremoval flights orderedsince President Trump invokedthe Alien Enemies Act. The rulingcame in response to a federalcivil lawsuit filed against PresidentTrump and other administrationofficials by five Venezuelannationals in immigrationcustody in Texas and New York.White House Press SecretaryKaroline Leavitt defended theadministration’s actions, statingon X, “The written order andthe Administration’s actions donot conflict. A single judge ina single city cannot direct themovements of an aircraft carryingforeign alien terrorists whowere physically expelled fromU.S. soil.”“The brave men and womenof the Federal Law EnforcementOfficers Association have continuouslyadapted to meet theevolving public safety needs ofthe American people," said Silverman.

“While some have criticizedthe Trump administration, the truth is, public safety is anon-partisan issue. Our membershave worked day and night toprotect our Nation’s borders. Ourmembers have worked aroundthe clock to take violent criminalsoff the streets. Now, I thinkwe can all agree our communitieshave become a safer placeto raise a family.”Over the past several years, law enforcement officers havefaced increasing challenges incarrying out their duties. However, with the leadership of PresidentTrump, Attorney GeneralBondi, and Tom Homan, manyofficers once again feel empoweredto do the jobs they werehired to do.Speaking at the Department ofJustice on Friday, March 14, 2025,both President Trump and AttorneyGeneral Bondi reaffirmedtheir unwavering support for lawenforcement at all levels.“Restoring law and order is notgoing to happen overnight,” Silvermanadded. “It will take timeto bring us back to where weneed to be. But the pendulum isswinging, and knowing that ourcountry appreciates the workwe do makes this job even moremeaningful.”NEW # 832.627.3729Now open for walk-insWed-Sat 12pm - 8pm“Let us bring yourart to life!”The BLUES - APRIL ‘25 19
