FEB 2021 Blues Vol 37 No. 2

opportunity by Captain

opportunity by Captain John Snelson to return to Helicopter Patrol as a lieutenant. I remained in Helicopter Patrol until my own retirement in September 2006. Even though Bob retired from HPD in July of 1988, I would like to think that his supervisory style lived on in some small way through me, and I am sure, many others. By the way, in my opinion, the hallmark of Bob’s supervisory style was that he NEVER forgot where he came from, meaning, he always remembered what it was like to wear a silver badge, and not a gold one! Rest in peace Bob, my friend, and mentor! My condolences to Mardy, and the entire Tessier family. JOHN KING LT. (RET) HPD Air Support I remember as a kid hearing that helicopter over the neighborhood and going outside to watch as Mr. Tessier would fly over the neighborhood. I knew he was just doing a “fly-by”, but I always thought of it as him looking out for/protecting the neighborhood. I miss that as an adult. R.I.P. Mr. Tessier, you’re flying with the angels now, protecting all of us! STEPHEN CASANOVER What a beautiful tribute written about a wonderful man. He loved his life. Whether it was work, family, hobbies (both Fire and Police dept related). When he was in helicopters, I could hear him flying over the house and knew he was checking on us. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids, and his fur babies. Giving that kind of love- he was loved in return. He was loved by his coworkers, many, many who were called friends. He was a wonderful friend to our family and will be greatly missed. But the memories I have of him will always have a special part of my heart. Dean has already welcomed him, and they are high above looking over us now. (In between telling war stories with all the other retirees) Love, hugs and prayers to all my extended family. BEVERLY RYAN “Bobbie” as my young daughter would call him, was an amazing human! Bob & Mardy Tessier were the absolute best neighbors we ever had. My husband traveled a lot for work and Bob was quick to remind me that he would keep an eye on things when he was gone. They were like grandparents to my children- but cooler, giving rides on his fire truck, always engaging with my daughter when she would yell at him from the second story window and just watching out for us. Hearing this news today breaks my heart! Sending much love to Mardy and the entire family! CORINA MARTIN I will forever be grateful for the friendship Bob and Mardy had with my mom and dad. That friendship became even more special to me when I lost my dad, and both Bob and Mardy continued their friendship with me. Bob, you were truly an amazing man, you loved your country, your friends, your family and your beautiful wife. You will forever be missed. Give my dad a huge hug for me. I know you two are already reminiscing of the good old days. Mardy and family, the DeHerrera family is with you now and always. MELODY HARRIS It just won’t feel the same without Bob weighing in on FB, although we were retired HPD, his comments gave a sense to us that it could be a modern-day roll call again. Where we bantered about war stories, family matters or political concerns. He always had a solid opinion leveled with common sense. Until we meet again, RIP Bob. DEE LANGSTON Today I said goodbye to an amazing man - one who I have looked up to for many years. He made the world a better place with his smile, his service, his compassion, and his love for life. I will never forget the kindness he showed to me and my family, when others simply walked away. I will forever love you, Robert Tessier. Rest easy, Bobby. I’ve lit a candle in your honor.
