GUEST COMENTARY

GUEST COMENTARY Detective Art Woolery, RT Wake Up America I understand loyalty to your beliefs. I understand choosing a political party based on philosophy as most people need a baseline to live by. When that group of people swing the pendulum too far one way or the other at the expense of the American people, it’s time for us to get our head out of our ass. We must put politics aside and look at reality. When “We the People” elect someone to office, the candidate usually has run based on party affiliation. Then once in office, we expect that person to be the elected official for all the people. The last four years have proven we can’t have both. So, it seems to me that “We the People” better start looking at what the people we elect are going to do for America, not SOME Americans, not for THEIR family or themselves, but for ALL Americans. Let’s talk about Democrats and Republicans. I know there are Independents and Libertarians and so on. But for the purpose of making a point, let’s just use the 2 largest groups. So, do you think that police officers are Democrats or Republicans? Do you think all gun owners are Democrats or all Republicans? Speaking of that, I wonder if government knocks on a gun owners’ door and says “We are here to take your guns” what are they going to do? I know what I will do, what about you? Back to the point I am making. What I am saying is there are people who vote candidates into office with no consideration for anything except what party they belong to. Do most Americans think it is OK to let anyone who wants to come into our Country just walk in. Hell, even Walmart has better security than we do at the border. They at least check people at the door. At the same time “We the People” have allowed our government to invite about 11 million illegal immigrants to enter our Country with no questions asked except: How many in your party; will you be staying long; where would you like for us to send you; are you pregnant so we know how much to allow for health care, housing and education; Oh yeah, I forgot to ask, what color cell phone you would like? Excuse me, as I sit here writing this article for the Blues, I just got a popup on my phone. I am admittedly one of those that can’t stand it. I must see what it says. It seems Joe Biden has credited the 2022 Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA) with saving lives. Reading further, Biden is calling for: universal background checks; banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines; removing the gun industry immunity from liability; and passing a national red flag law. While he is at it, let’s take all the cars away from drunk drivers and hold the auto manufacturer responsible for making the car. We also need to confiscate all hammers, knives, and other items that can be used as weapons. I wonder if the 13 or 14 states who think they have the authority to decide who can run for office, by simply removing them from the ballot, also think the ATF rules or may or may not suit them as well. One other thing I haven’t heard Biden address is his son Hunter. The younger Biden lied on a federal form 4473 and if convicted, could get 10 years in prison and up to 0,000 fine. But the President insists he’s innocent and this is all brought about by MAGA Republicans. Excuse me, out laws and judicial system decide who is innocent or guilty, but “MAGA” Republicans. For years now, our country has seen laws on top of laws with nothing to show for them except an increase in crime. Why? Because laws are only as good as the people who abide by them. The crime problem in America didn’t happen overnight, and it won’t go away overnight. We have let it creep up on us and now it’s panic city. When I was in high school it went like this. “Did you hear Larry got caught smoking in the bathroom?” “Yeah, his parents had to come pick him up because he got expelled for 2 days.” Today, Larry is 12-year-old got caught with a 9 mm in his backpack. So, what did people expect the end results for “Larry” will be? You know the song, “Momma is in the graveyard, Papa is in the pen, and Grandma is raising the kids at 70, with little to no income. And because all of Larry’s buddies are in the same boat, they do what Momma and Daddy did. They rob, steal, and sell drugs. Then they quit school, because they don’t know the importance of an education and have no one to teach them. We talk about rehabilitation and that’s fine, but unless we start fixing the problem before it starts, we are just letting the next generation follow in the footsteps of the previous one. We must somehow break the cycle. Wake up America and get your head out of your ass. 22 The Blues - February ‘24
