AROUND THE COUNTRYSAN ANTONIO, TX.Seven San Antonio Police Officers were shot while responding to a "suicide inprogress call." The suspect was later found deceased after a stand-off with SWAT.SAN ANTONIO, TX. – San Antoniopolice have identified a manaccused of shooting seven policeofficers in Stone Oak during aresponse to a suicide in progresscall.The suspect, identified asBrandon Scott Poulos, 46, wasfound dead after the standoff onWednesday night, police said.Poulos was out on bond for anarrest the previous weekend.The shooting happened ataround 8:30 p.m., when officersresponded to a report of asuicide in progress. SAPD ChiefWilliam McManus said a total ofseven officers were shot by thesuspect as they responded.As of 12:25 p.m. Thursday, sixof those officers were releasedfrom the hospital. The seventhofficer who is still in the hospitalis expected to make a full recovery,according to a SAPD page.The officers were dispatchedto a suicide in progress callat an apartment complex inthe 18700 block of Stone OakParkway just before 8:30 p.m.Wednesday.When they arrived, a womanexited the apartment and saidPoulos was shooting inside andhe was coming out of the apartment.Poulos exited the apartmentand opened fire, police said.During a news conference justafter 10 p.m. Wednesday, SAPDChief William McManus said thefirst officer arrived at the sceneand was shot in the leg.At some point, Poulos wentback inside the apartment andbegan shooting at officers, thereport states.A second officer arrived andwas also shot, according to Mc-Manus. A third and fourth officerlater arrived and were shot aswell.The fourth officer suffered agunshot wound to their upperbody, SAPD said.During an update at 2 a.m.Thursday, McManus confirmedthat an additional three SAPDofficers had been shot.As we went live, all but oneof the seven officers had beenreleased from the hospital.McManus said that the suspectbarricaded himself inside theapartment complex for severalhours.McManus said Thursday thatofficers found the suspect deadin the apartment. It is unclear ifhe died of self-inflicted gunshotwounds or if he died by SAPDgunfire.The officers each have betweenfour and eight years of servicewith the department.
