AROUND THE COUNTRYREVERE, MA.Dominican illegal immigrant arrested in ‘emergency shelter’ with fentanyl worthover million and carrying an AR-15.By Matthew Holloway,Law Enforcement TodayREVERE, MA. - An illegalimmigrant from the DominicanRepublic was arrested for possessionof over million worthof fentanyl and an AR-15 rifleon December 27 in a state taxpayer-subsidizedhotel room ofMassachusetts’ emergency housingprogram.Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, 28,as reported by Fox News, wasarrested by the Revere PoliceDepartment and was arrestedon firearm charges, including analien in possession of a firearm,and for possession of about 10pounds of the lethal syntheticdrug.According to a press releasefrom Immigration and CustomsEnforcement (ICE) Andujar Sanchezis currently in state custodyand is under an immigrationdetainer.Enforcement and RemovalOperations Boston acting FieldOffice Director Patricia H. Hydetold reporters, “Mr. Andujarhas been accused of seriouscrimes, and ERO Boston takesits public safety mission veryseriously — which is why we’velodged an immigration detaineragainst him with Revere police.The Commonwealth of Massachusettshas charged him withpossessing dangerous weaponsand drug trafficking, and withthe Revere Police Department’scooperation, we intend to takehim into ICE custody upon hisrelease.”The release noted that in aSpanish language interview officerswith the ERO found that heentered the United States illegallyin the past year, but wereunable to determine his pointof entry. In total, Andujar Sanchezwas arraigned on chargesfor “possessing a firearm and alarge capacity feeding device,possessing a firearm in a felony,being an alien in possession ofa firearm, the unlicensed sale orpossession of an assault weapon,and trafficking in 200 gramsor more of heroin, morphine,opium or fentanyl.”As The Boston Herald reports,a Republican State Senator ofMassachusetts has demandedthat the court records in AndujarSanchez’s case be made public.“If there’s anything I can do toeffectuate change it’s demandingthat the documents in this casebe made public,” Sen. Ryan Fattman,told reporters Friday.“Thepublic has a right to know whatthey’re funding.”The outlet reported that theDominican illegal immigrantwas arrested at a Quality Innused by the state to shelter migrantswhere he and his familyhad reportedly stayed sinceOctober 15th citing informationfrom the Executive Office ofHousing & Livable Communities(EOHLC).EOHLC spokesman Noah Bombardtold the Herald that thesuspect was evicted from theshelter following his arrest. “Wetook immediate action to terminatethis individual from the EAsystem, and we confirmed withfederal immigration officials thatthey have lodged a detainer.”58 The BLUES - FEBRUARY ‘25
