Three Off-Duty Harris

Three Off-Duty Harris County Deputies Wounded Extra job at Set Nightclub turns deadly. HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Three HCSO deputies were shot and wounded at an off-duty extra job in Downtown Houston early Sunday, January 3. It happened around 2:20 a.m. outside the Set Nightclub in the 2900 block of Travis Street. The Deputies working at the club responded to a fight in the parking lot when 25-yearold Joseph Anthony Gonzalez opened fire, according to the Houston Police Dept. In a tweet posted Sunday night, HPD said Gonzalez has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault against a public servant and one count of felony possession of a weapon. He remains in the hospital and is stable. Two of the deputies were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, while one was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. All three were recovering and reportedly in good spirits. “I don’t know what led him to shoot into a crowd where police officers and other citizens were, but we’ll find out,” Finner said. One of the deputies, a female, was shot in the abdomen and was taken into surgery. She was conscious and talking, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Another deputy, a male, was shot in the foot, and the third was shot in the hand and a lower extremity, the sheriff said. The gunman also shot and killed a woman on the scene who was later identified as the suspect’s mother.
