LETTERSFIVE STAGES OF GRIEF:STUCK AT ANGERLast month I shared with TheBLUES readers my unfortunaterun in with the Californiawildfires. I say unfortunate becauseI know that this wasn’tan act of Mother Nature, itwas a total complete failureof officials and companies inCalifornia that failed us andcompletely wiped-out entirecommunities. It's widely accepted thatthere are 5-stages of grief –denial, anger, bargaining, depressionand acceptance. Notsure that’s the order they aresupposed to happen in, butI’m stuck at anger. The more Ilearn about the complete andstupid actions of public officialsthat were supposed tojust do their fcking jobs andas a result people died. Peoplelost EVERYTHING.It's unknown how the Eatonfire began. Some say it wassparked from electrical linesblowing in the wind, otherssay it was intentionally set.But one thing is for sure, daysafter the fire first ignited, firefightersobserved that powerlines operated by SouthernCalifornia Edison were liveand starting new fires. I foundrecordings of radio traffic onNPR that reveals the utilitycompany failed to respondquickly to multiple requestsfrom firefighters to shut thepower off and sent confusingand sometimes incorrectinformation to first respondersworking on the Eaton Fire. Inother words, the assholes atthe power company failed todo their job and as a result,17 people lost their lives andhundreds of people’s propertywent up in flames. All that leftis ashes. And if that’s not bad enough, weak ass Mayor Bass had thisto say, "Acting in the best interestsof Los Angeles’ publicsafety, and for the operationsof the Los Angeles Fire Department,I have removed KristinCrowley as Fire Chief," Basssaid. “We know that 1,000 firefightersthat could have beenon duty on the morning thefires broke out were insteadsent home on Chief Crowley’swatch.”So, this gay LBTQ+++++++bitch sent 1,000 firefighters’home because of budget cutsand as a result 29 people diedin all the fires. How aboutcharging Mayor Bass andKristen Crowley with negligenthomicide? Because that’sexactly what happened. Theywere negligent and peopledied. The liberal politicians inCalifornia are more worriedabout climate change thanthey are about saving lives. Our worthless Governor, GavinNewSCUM, is more worriedabout his political future thanthe people in his own state.12 The BLUES - MARCH ‘25
I’m not sure what the futureholds for me or the thousandsof others that lost everything. And when I say everything,I mean that literally. Houses, cars, personal property, schools, churches, libraries, stores, restaurants, and ourplaces of employment. Andin some cases, loss of life. All you can see for miles andmiles is block after block ofburnt-out hulks of a life thatonce was.For now, we’ve all left andgone somewhere else. Somemay rebuild at some point inthe future and others mostlikely will never return. Regardless, the community Iknew as my home is goneforever. It’s one thing whenyou see this in movies, it’s anotherwhen it happens in reallife. That final stage of grief‘acceptance’, I’m not sure if I’llever achieve that. For now, I’mstuck at Anger.JJHave something you'dlike to share with ourreaders?Send your letters to:bluespdmag@gmail.comThe BLUES - MARCH ‘25 13
