GUEST COMENTARYPat DroneyBorder Czar Warns AOCTom Homan warns AOC she may be violating the law by tellingillegals how to evade ICE.WASHINGTON, DC- There’s anew sheriff in town. His name is Tom Homan, PresidentTrump’s border czar. Unlikeprevious “border czar” KamalaHarris, Homan promises to goafter anyone who facilitates theprotection of illegal aliens…includingmembers of Congress. The New York Post reports thaton Friday, Homan took professionalbartender and currentHouse member Rep. AlexandriaOcasio-Cortez (D-NY) to taskover being complicit in helpingillegal aliens avoid deportation. He alleged the representativereferred to as “AOC” may be“impeding” federal immigrationauthorities in their task of arrestingand deporting criminal illegalaliens. In a webinar hosted by heroffice earlier this week, Ocasio-Cortez’soffice explainedtactics used by Immigration andCustoms Enforcement (ICE) inNew York to arrest illegal aliens.“I sent an email today to thedeputy attorney general. At whatlevel is that impediment? Is thatimpediment?” Homan said of thewebinar in an interview with FoxNews host Laura Ingraham on thenetwork’s “The Ingraham Angle.”“Is that impeding our law enforcementefforts? If so, what are24 The BLUES - MARCH ‘25we going to do about it?” Homansaid he asked the DOJ.“Maybe AOC is going to be introuble now,” Homan continued, continuing that “impediment isimpediment in my opinion.”“I’m not a prosecutor, but weneed some further guidance onthat.”The Post said that Ocasio-Cortezdid not directly participatein the Facebook webinar, whichwas led by an immigrant rightsadvocate who outlined how ICEis conducting raids in New York. That advocate told viewers thatICE raids have occurred “earlyin the morning” and “in publicplaces” with ICE agents using unmarkedvehicles as they stoppedcars as people were driving toand from work.In addition, the speaker–GeniaBlaser, a lawyer with the ImmigrantDefense Project–mentionedthat ICE arrests have taken placeduring mandated check-ins withfederal immigration officials inNew York City. Outside of thecity, such arrests typically occurduring probation or parole appointmentsand also when illegalaliens are being transferred frompolice custody.Another speaker, only identifiedas Laura, who also is affiliatedwith the Immigrant DefenseProject, said that the group has“very, very rarely” seen cases inNew York where ICE agents havesecured judicial warrants and advisedillegals to refuse to cooperatewith federal authorities if theydo not produce a warrant.
