RYAROUND THE COUNTRYPONTIAC, MI.Worst mother ever is arrested after little children foundabandoned, living in squalor.By Jenna CurrenPONTIAC, MI - Three childrenwere found living alone in a filthyhome that was filled with fecesand trash. According to FOX2,the children, ages 15, 13, and 12,were found Friday, February 14th.The Oakland County Sheriff's Office(OCSO) said that their motherhad left them alone in thehome four years ago and wouldreturn to drop food off to them.OCSO Sheriff Michael Bouchardsaid he's never seen anything likewhat deputies uncovered at thehome. He said, "Throughout myextensive career in this field, Ihave never encountered a scenarioas dire and prolonged asthis one, involving abandonment,neglect, and abuse of the highestorder." FOX2 reported thatall three children are now livingwith a relative.Bouchard said that deputieswere called for a welfare checkat a home on Lydia Lane. Thelandlord called after he said hehad not heard from the mothersince December and thatrent was last paid in October2024. He told officers that hewas concerned something hadhappened. Upon arriving at thehome, deputies found the homefull of garbage, piled as high as52 The BLUES - MARCH ‘25four feet in some rooms.The rooms were also coveredin mold and human waste. Thetoilet was overflowing and thebathtub was full of feces. Thethree children were living therealone. The boy, the oldest of thesiblings, said they lived in thehome with their mother but thatshe abandoned them in either2020 or 2021, when the kidswere just eleven, nine, and eight.The children survived on foodthat was dropped off on thefront porch each week by eithertheir mother or a stranger. They,however, had no access to toiletpaper or personal hygiene items.The sheriff said they were unfamiliarwith personal hygiene anddidn't know how to flush a toilet.The kids also haven't attendedschool since the mother left andinstead passed time by watchingTV or playing games. The sheriffsaid the girls had not beenoutside in years. The boy slept ona mattress on the floor and thetwo girls slept on pizza boxes.Bouchard said, "This situationwould be deemed deplorableand intolerable for an animal,
and it is utterly unacceptable forthree children."He added, "They have beendeprived of any interaction withtheir mother and have not receivedan education for years.The far-reaching consequencesof this abuse must be acknowledged.We look forward to presentingthis case to the prosecutorand ensuring that this motherfaces the consequences of heractions."Deputies said that the neighborswere unaware that thechildren lived in the home andhad never even seen them. Theysaid they had seen the mother atthe home each month. The kidswere all wearing soiled clothingwith matted hair and toenails solong that it was difficult to walk.Their 34-year-old mother wasfound at a different location andarrested. She told deputies thatthe kids' father was not involvedin their lives.OCSO is collecting donationsfor the three children. New andgently used clothing donationsare being accepted. Clothingsizes needed are: girl's size 12clothing and girl's size 6.5 shoesfor the 12-year-old; girl's size 14clothing and girl's size 7 shoesfor the 13-year-old girl; and mediummen's clothing and size 9shoes for the 15-year-old boy.The identity of the mother hasnot been released.
