Harris County Memorial Service 2021 The following officers were honored at this year’s memorial service: • Deputy Omar Diaz, 39, died on July 6, 2019, after suffering a pulmonary embolism while working at a crime scene. • Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal, 42, died on Sept. 27, 2019, after being shot to death while conducting a traffic stop. • Sgt. Raymond Scholwinski, 70, died on May 6, 2020, from COVID-19 complications. • Deputy Juan Menchaca, 70, died on June 13, 2020, from COVID-19 complications. • Honorary Deputy Cornelius Anderson, 28, died on July 12, 2020, from a medical emergency during Basic Peace Officer Course training. • Precinct 5 Constable Deputy Mark Brown, 53, died on July 25, 2020, from COVID-19 complications. • Deputy Johnny Tunches, 56, died on Nov. 3, 2020, from COVID-19 complications. • Detention Officer Robert Perez, 54, died on Feb. 3, 2021, from COVID-19 complications. • Deputy Alexander Gwosdz, 32, died on April 22, 2021, from COVID-19 complications. 50 The BLUES POLICE MAGAZINE The BLUES POLICE MAGAZINE 51
