AROUND THE COUNTRY TUCSON, AZ Tucson police officer Adam Buckner was struck and killed in his patrol car while responding to a 911 call. OFFICER ADAM BUCKNER TUCSON, AZ. – A Tucson police died after he was in a crash near the University of Arizona on Sunday March 31. According to Tucson PD, the crash happened just before 10 p.m. near 6th Street and Campbell Avenue. The PD said Officer Adam Buckner was driving north on Campbell with his emergency lights on as he attempted to go past a green light at 6th. At that point, an unidentified driver failed to yield the right of way and collided with Buckner’s patrol vehicle. Eyewitnesses and arriving officers attempted to revive Buckner with CPR and other medical aid until paramedics arrived. Buckner was rushed to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. He was just 31 years old. The New Orleans Police Department released a statement following Buckner’s death, stating he initially graduated from the police academy in Louisiana. “On behalf of the New Orleans Police Department, we are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of Officer Adam Buckner, a valued member of our law enforcement family. Officer Buckner, a well liked graduate of NOPD Academy Class 183, served with distinction during his time with NOPD. Today, we also mourn his passing as an officer with the Tucson Police Department, where he continued his dedicated service. Our hearts go out to Officer Buckner’s loved ones, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. His memory and legacy will forever be cherished within our department and beyond,” New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne E. Kirkpatrick said. Officials are continuing to investigate the accident but said the other driver suffered only minor injuries and showed no signs of impairment.
