Corpus Christi police officer Kyle Hicks was responding to a domestic disturbance when one of the suspects fired at officers and struck Hicks who ultimately died from his injuries. CORPUS CHRISTI, TX.— A Corpus Christi Police Officer, Kyle Hicks, was shot in the line of duty on 12:32AM, Saturday April 20. Officer Hicks was responding to a domestic disturbance call at 12:32 a.m. Saturday at the 5400 block of Burnham. At the location a man and woman were involved in a disturbance with shots fired. When officers responded to the call, a 26 year-old-man was at the door and shot one of the officers. An assisting officer shot back at the suspect, according to Corpus police. The man died at the scene. Hicks, who sustained life threatening injuries and despite the efforts of a great team of doctors and nurses, passed away on April 24. “We mourn the loss of a great husband, father, brother, son, friend and co-worker,” a Facebook post on the department’s page states. Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette Guajardo released a statement Wednesday evening: This evening, the entire City of Corpus Christi is grieving the loss of a brave public servant, Officer Kyle Hicks who lost his life protecting our community. Officer Hicks will forever be remembered as a hero to the people of Corpus Christi for his bravery in the line of duty. As Mayor, I am asking our community to please join me and my family in prayer for his family and fellow police officers. The death of Officer is a stark reminder of the life-anddeath risks law enforcement officers face every day. We will forever remember Officer Hicks and the City of Corpus Christi OFFICER KYLE HICKS will continue to support our courageous police officers in protecting our city. May God bless and keep Officer Kyle Hicks. The man who shot and ultimately killed Hicks was identified as 26-year-old Colton Foster. He was shot and killed at the scene by officers responding with Hicks. Hicks, who had been with the department for two years, leaves behind a wife and four children.
