AROUND THE COUNTRY CARSON CITY, NV. DHS reveals that the suspect in the crash that killed Nevada Senator’s aide, is an illegal immigrant. CARSON CITY, NV. - A tragic car crash in Nevada has taken a troubling turn, revealing unsettling details about the suspect involved. On April 6, a collision claimed the life of Kurt Englehart, an adviser to Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev). The other driver involved, 18-year-old Elmer Rueda-Linares, was swiftly arrested. Originally accused of felony hit-and-run, Rueda-Linares now faces charges of failing to stop at the accident scene. However, the situation escalated when it was disclosed that Rueda-Linares is in the United States illegally, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Kurt Englehart, aged 38, was a respected and beloved figure within political circles. Born in Zanesville, Ohio, Englehart had dedicated much of his life to public service. He served as an adviser to Senator Cortez Masto since 2017, having previously worked on Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign. Kurt was respected and admired by colleagues and opponents alike for his integrity, intelligence, and humor. If you were fortunate enough to be loved by Kurt, then you know that he loved and championed you at your worst and at your best.” Described as a “skilled political strategist,” he was known for his integrity, intelligence, and sense of humor. Colleagues and opponents alike respected and admired Englehart for his unwavering dedication to his work and his willingness to help others, regardless of the circumstances. Rueda-Linares entered the country illegally near the Rio Grande City, Texas, Port of Entry in March 2021. Despite being arrested at the border, he was released into the U.S. in June 2021. This revelation has reignited debates about the Biden Administration’s immigration policies and enforcement, sparking discussions about border security and the challenges faced by authorities. Following Rueda-Linares’s arrest, he was placed under an ICE immigration detainer. This means that federal officers have requested local law enforcement to hold him for an additional 48 hours to decide whether to deport him. Rueda-Linares currently remains in custody at Washoe County Jail, with bail set at 0,000.
