FROM THE PUBLISHER’S DESK Want more cops? Change Presidents & bring TRUMP back!! Every day, I speak with police recruiters from across the country wanting to know how they can promote their department and find new officers. As of April 30, there are an estimated 83,200 openings for police officers in the US, 29,300 in Texas alone. Sure, we can place their ad in our classified section and have nearly 1.5 million readers see it. But the truth is, very few young people want to be cops. They witness defund the police daily on social media and think why I would risk my life for citizens who hate me for just wearing a uniform. And risk their life on a daily basis is a reality. This month’s issue is dedicated to the 137 officers that lost their life in the line of duty in 2023. Thousands of officers along with the family and friends of these fallen officers, will gather in Washington D.C. during police week, May 12-15, to pay tribute to those that paid the ultimate sacrifice. And 2024 is going to be another tragic year for cops and first responders. We have lost 49 officers already this year. The fact is, a cop is shot in America every 48 hours, so why then would you even consider being a cop? Unfortunately, until we elect an administration that cares more about law enforcement than offending the ones doing the crimes, nothing will change. I know some people hate Trump. They would rather elect a brain-dead old man, than someone who truly cares about cops and their families. Case in point. Only last month while Trump spent the day visiting with the wife of fallen NYPD Officer Diller, Biden was holding a fund raiser with former losers Clinton and Obama. Biden didn’t even bother to call Diller’s widow and give his condolences. But he damn sure invites the families of suspects killed by police in self-defense to the Whitehouse. How many cops have been invited to the Whitehouse under the Biden administration? NONE! I can assure you one thing. If Trump is reelected, there will be a change in law enforcement in this country. When the commander in chief says he has cops’ backs and go get the bad guys and restore law and order in the streets of America, people will once again want to wear a badge. Many don’t know this. But when Trump was in office, he personally called every officer that was shot or critically injured in the line of duty. If that officer was killed, he immediately called the officers wife or husband and his or her family to offer his condolences and support. The President of the United States would stop what he was doing to comfort a fallen officer’s family. Not since Bush was in office has a sitting president done this. Neither Obama nor Biden made a single call. Say what you want about Trump, but he is 100% behind every law enforcement officer in this country. If you want to restore law and order in this country, Trump is the only choice for your next president. And if you haven’t figured it out already, The BLUES Police Magazine is supporting and endorsing Trump for President. 6 The Blues - May ‘24
