VA TROOPERS SAVE WOMAN FROM SUBMERGED CAR Two state troopers in Virginia rescued a woman from her submerged car earlier this week by pulling her through the sunroof. The state agency said the car left the roadway and ended up in the retention pond near Interstate 66. The Virginia State Police said Troopers A. King and B. Foret arrived at the scene at about 9:40 p.m. to find a vehicle that had driven off the roadway into a retention pond. The vehicle had become submerged, and the female driver was trapped inside. The troopers jumped into the retention pond and rescued the woman through the sunroof. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Because of the cold temperatures, EMS also evaluated King and Foret. TENN. DEPUTY ON LIFE SUPPORT AFTER CRASHING DURING RESPONSE TO AN- OTHER DEPUTY INVOLVED IN CRASH By Joanna Putman, Police1 LAKELAND, TN — Two Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies, one of whom is now on life support, were involved in separate crashes less than two miles apart, 58 The Blues - November ‘24 WMC reported. The first incident occurred just before 7 a.m. on Oct. 15 when a civilian vehicle pulled out in front of a deputy on a motorcycle, leading to a collision, according to the report. The deputy sustained minor injuries and was treated and released later that day. While responding to the scene of the initial crash, a second deputy was struck by another vehicle. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition and remains on life support, according to Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner. Buckner described the deputy’s condition as “touch and go” and said medical professionals are monitoring him closely, according to the report. Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating both crashes.
