AROUND THE COUNTRYSAN JACINTO CNTY, TX.Trooper Jerry Adamick was killed in a single-vehicle crashwhile responding to a call for assistance on FM 945 in SanJacinto County in Texas.AUSTIN, TX. – It is with greatsadness that the Texas Departmentof Public Safety (DPS)announces the death of a HighwayPatrol Trooper followinga traffic crash in San JacintoCounty.Trooper Jerry Wayne AdamickJr., 44, was driving on FM945 South, responding to assistlaw enforcement partners withan emergency call around 9:15p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15, whenhis vehicle went off the sideof the road, struck a tree andcaught fire. Trooper Adamickdied at the scene. The crashremains under investigation.“Our hearts are broken today,”said DPS Colonel FreemanF. Martin. “Trooper Adamick'sbravely served our countryfor many years, and we wereproud to have him choose tocontinue his service as part ofthe DPS family. He had so muchlife ahead of him, and todaywe grieve with his family andfriends.”Trooper Adamick served withthe United States Army for morethan two decades and completedseveral tours overseas. Afterleaving the Army, he joined DPSand was a member of ClassA-2024. He was the recipient ofthe Veterans National DefenseAward in June of last year.His family says being a Trooperwas his dream."He was truly a hero, and helost his life, running, rushing toanswer the call," said a speakerat the funeral.That’s how friends described44-year-old DPS Trooper JerryWayne Adamick Jr. who gavehis life in service."He was a man who gavehis life to serve this nation, toserve all of us, served the state,served his family. He lived inmany ways to serve," said anotherspeaker."He was always willing tostand up for what he believedin and wasn't shy to express hisfeelings, but what I’ll miss themost, as I’m sure most of youare also going to is his goofyside. He has the incredibletalent to make you laugh in anTROOPER JERRY ADAMICKinstant," she said.Hundreds gathered in Huntsvilleto say their final goodbyeson Tuesday.Trooper Adamick was stationedin Coldspring. But hewas much more than a soldierand DPS trooper.
