PART II Save Yourself from Me, Get the Shot...Stop Dying from COVID! This past month, I lost five more friends to COVID. None had been vaccinated. All believed that the vaccine was un-necessary. Despite pleas from friends and relatives to just get vaccinated, they stood fast in their beliefs and ultimately lost their lives to this dangerous disease. Now before I go on, let me be clear. There is NO ONE that mistrusts our government more than me. I don’t believe anything that comes out of the mouth of our socalled President, nor do I believe his advisors, World Heath Organizations etc. They will say and do anything to get you to buy into their rhetoric and BS. Take for example the whole mask-up debate. If EVERY person on the planet wore an N95 mask in public, would that limit the spread of COVID? Yes, it would “limit” the spread, not stop it. But wearing a ‘scarf’ or ‘gaiter face mask’ does nothing. Besides looking like a train robber from the 1940’s, you’re wasting everyone’s time. But you are complying with the rules by wearing a ‘face mask.’ So, unless it’s certified N95, I believe the entire mask thing should just go away. So, let’s talk about the vaccine. I’ve heard it all. It’s dangerous, untested, unknown future side effects, a government conspiracy, not FDA approved, experimental, you’ll get chipped, yada, yada, yada. And statistically, you have a better chance of catching COVID from a fully vaccinated person (ME) than someone who isn’t vaccinated. Why? Because even if we get COVID, we are asymptomatic and don’t even know we have it. But let’s look at some real-world statistics. (These were gathered and averaged from several sites and not provided by the American Government. Data as of August 23, 2021) Total Cases of Coronavirus around the World – 212,912,833 Total Cases of Coronavirus in the US – 38,548,413 Total Deaths related to COVID worldwide – 4,449,453 Total Deaths related to COVID in the US – 645,068 Total Recovered – 190,607,775 Total Doses of vaccine administered in the World – 4.97 billion, 32.5% of World Population one dose, 24.5% is fully vaccinated. Total Doses in the US – 339 million given to 187.2 million people (* as of July 23, 2021) Total deaths due to blood clots after receiving the vaccine – 3 (* as of July 23, 2021) Total of people who died even though they were totally vaccinated – 6,207 or .0018% of all doses administered in the US Total “flu” deaths in 2020 – 646 Each flu season, the CDC tracks a few important metrics that help tell the story of how severe the current flu season is compared to MICHAEL BARRON previous seasons. Here are a few numbers to sum up the 2020/2021 flu season, running from October 1, 2020, to April 1, 2021. Mortality - The PIC mortality rate is the rate of deaths attributed to pneumonia, influenza, or COVID-19. This year, most PIC deaths were due to COVID-19. 646 deaths were attributed to the flu. Pediatric Deaths - Pediatric deaths are the number of deaths of people under the age of 18. In 2019/20, there were 195 pediatric deaths. There was one pediatric death during the 2020/21 season. Total LEO deaths related to the Flu in 2020 – 0 Total LEO deaths related to the Flu in 2021– 0 Total LEO deaths related to COVID in 2020 – 241 Total LEO deaths related to COVID in 2021 – 107 Total LEO deaths related to receiving a COVID vaccine – 0 Total LEO reporting serious side effects related to COVID vaccine – 1 The chance of you dying from a COVID vaccine is 3 in 187 million. My brothers and sisters in Blue, please stop and consider how much your life means to everyone in your life. There is no way to describe the pain of watching someone standing outside the window of a hospital watching their loved one slowly die on the other side of that glass wall. And die alone, because NO ONE is allowed to hold your hand while you slip away from this earth to your final resting place. Yes, I know we all could be killed tomorrow. That’s the risk every one of us takes the moment we step out of bed each day. I also know and have heard “when it’s your time to go, God will take you.” That doesn’t mean you can stand on a railroad track in front of an oncoming train and think God is going to save you at the last moment. God gave us the sense and knowledge to do what we MUST do to survive in this world. But it’s 100% up to you to do what’s necessary to make it to your “designated time of departure.” Despite all the reasons why you think you shouldn’t get vaccinated; I’ll give you at least one reason why you should – you have nothing to lose. Statistically speaking your chance of dying from the shot is: ALMOST ZERO The chance of being allergic to the ingredients of the vaccine is: LESS THAN .0000018% Long term effects of the vaccine – UNKOWN Yes, I know you can die a million other ways. Chance of dying in a car wreck – 1 in 5000 Chance of dying in a plane crash – 1 in 11 million Chance of dying in an earthquake – 1 in 20,000 Bottom line, we could all die tomorrow. But if there’s even a small chance that by getting a stupid shot, you won’t die tomorrow, or next week or even next month, you should roll the dice and give it a shot – LOL see how I used that word ‘shot.’ But seriously, I hate seeing all my retired and active LEOs dying from this horrible pandemic. If I convinced even one of you to take a leap of faith and get vaccinated, then perhaps that’s one life I may have saved and I’m happy with that.
