By Domingo Ramirez Jr. Fort Worth Star-Telegram FORT WORTH, Texas — An Arlington man accused in the shooting of a deputy with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was arrested Wednesday morning after a brief foot chase in Arlington, the Clay County sheriff said. In a Facebook Live video, Clay County Sheriff Jeff Lyde identified the suspect as Joshua Lee Green. At about 10 a.m. Wednesday, Green, 31, was located at an Arlington hotel in the 4000 block of Scots Legacy Drive, where SWAT team and local police, who are members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, arrived with a warrant, according to Arlington police. Green ran across Interstate 20 before he was taken into custody, Lyde said in the Facebook post Wednesday morning. The shooting occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. Monday near Jolly, Texas, in Clay County. Jolly is about 10 miles southeast of Wichita Falls. Deputy Breanton Chitwood had stopped a Cadillac for speeding, the sheriff said, and he approached the window. Lyde noted that the license plate did not match the car. As the deputy approached the window, Green shot him, but the deputy was saved by his bulletproof vest, the sheriff said. Chitwood managed to return fire, damaging the car, the sheriff said. The deputy was treated and released from a North Texas hospital. A Blue Alert was issued Monday night by the Texas Department of Public Safety for the then unknown gunman and the vehicle, a white Cadillac sedan. The alert was discontinued after the car was found in Wichita Falls and investigators didn’t have a detailed description or identity of the suspect. The investigation led to authorities identifying Green as the suspect Tuesday night. He faces a charge of aggravated assault on a peace officer. He was in custody Wednesday at the Arlington Jail with bond set at 0,000 and will be returned to Clay County.
