AROUND THE COUNTRY yrs. WILCOX COUNTY,GA. Wilcox County Sheriff Robert Rodgers dies in one-vehicle crash. WILCOX COUNTY, GA. — Wilcox County Sheriff Robert Rodgers is dead after a car crash on Tuesday, according to Wilcox County Coroner Janice Brown. Brown says Rodgers was driving on Highway 233 en route to a domestic call when his car hit a tree near Matthews Road. The Georgia State Patrol says that Rodgers lost control of his car, striking a tree and the vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side. Rodgers most recently ran for re-election in 2020, and he was first elected sheriff in 2016, according to his re-election Facebook page. CLICK TO WATCH VIDEO Best Take Down of 2023 By Sarah Roebuck Police1 ATLANTA — A person operating a pickup truck was recorded on video while being apprehended after performing donuts at a busy intersection in northwest Atlanta, WSB reports. The pickup driver was doing donuts in the middle of Northside Drive and 17th Street Sunday evening. It didn’t take long for Georgia State Highway Patrol to show up at the scene. A trooper turned on his emergency lights and siren, causing the F-150 to escape through the crowd, striking multiple pedestrians. One of the pedestrians sustained an injury as a result. The trooper performed a PIT maneuver, forcing the F-150 to hit a curb, making the vehicle inoperable. As depicted in the video footage, the state trooper maneuvered alongside the truck and eventually succeeded in bringing it to a halt. At that moment, the trooper exited his vehicle and leaped onto its roof, extracting the driver from the truck and taking him into custody. Be a part of something special.
