GUEST COMMENTARY Police Law News Daniel Carr The entitled Alisa Hackett. The outrage over this case is absurd. On August 10, 2026 an Arkansas State Trooper initiated a traffic stop on an 18-year-old named Alisa Hackett. Alisa had been speeding (71 in a 60), weaving in-and-out of traffic, all with her hazard lights on. Alisa donned an attitude while signing a citation and threw the clipboard back at the Trooper. It was during this exchange that the Trooper noticed a bottle of alcohol in the vehicle (an arrestable offense as Alisa is only 18) and called his supervisor for advice. The supervisor looked up the information and relayed that he had stopped Alisa for speeding the week prior, located a bottle of alcohol, and gave her “a break” by having her pour it out. The Trooper then decided to arrest Alisa for the Minor in Possession of Alcohol offense. Once out of the car, Alisa actively resisted arrest. Alisa pulled away from the Trooper and did not allow him to handcuff her. Alisa yelled at passing vehicles, asking for “Help!”. After verbal commands to cooperate were ignored the Trooper performed a “rear sitout”…successfully taking the 28 The BLUES SEPTEMBER ‘26 uncooperative Alisa to the ground. Once on the ground, Alisa was on her back and refused to roll over onto her stomach and cooperate. During this Alisa punched at and kicked the Trooper. In order to stop the resistance the Trooper struck her in the face. The use of force was successful and Alisa was subsequently handcuffed and arrested. Alisa retained Ben Crump who has accused the Trooper of excessive force and racism. Every online activist and civil rights attorney has condemned the actions of the Trooper and are demanding his termination and prosecution. But, an objective review of this incident clearly reveals that..the Trooper did nothing wrong. Alisa resisted arrest and the Trooper responded in a measured manner and used force progressively. The Trooper started with verbal commands, he then went to a rear sit-out, and eventually he bonked her on head. The Trooper did not utilize: OC spray, a Taser, a baton, or deadly force. The Trooper literally utilized the least amount of force possible to effect the arrest. Alisa was not entitled to resist arrest.
